Everglades Region Charity Classic

October 16 2020

Dear Everglades Region Member,

"What a long, strange trip it's been."

                                 Jerry Garcia

Since the conclusion of our 22nd annual Charity Classic it has been a long strange trip indeed.  All of us have faced the challenges of the global pandemic and it long reaching effects.  Truth is we all have so much to be thankful for the privilege of working in an industry that has forever enjoyed core values that service others.  We are also privileged to know and trust that our industry will continue to bounce back.  Golf is stronger than ever and as we get more creative, soon food and beverage will be back as strong as ever too!  Another truth is that one of the industries to suffer the most is the charities that rely solely on fund raising to provide the services to those in need.

After much deliberation, we have decided to move forward and host the 2020 Charity Classic, with subtle changes including the cancellation of the Sunday Night Gala for this year only.  On behalf of the Florida Chapter of the Club Management Association of America Everglades Region, we thank you and your club for your support of the FLCMAA Everglades Region Charity Classic. We are celebrating 23 years of "helping and caring for kids in our community," which could not have been done without the support of our region. Since 1997, we have raised over $2.25 million for children in Southwest Florida. The 2020 Charity Classic will benefit Barbara's Friends and Kimmie's Recovery Zone.

Kimmie's Recovery Zone is a Recovery Community Organization (RCO), an independent, non-profit organization led and governed by representatives of local communities of recovery. These organizations assemble recovery-focused policy advocacy activities, carry out recovery-focused community education and outreach programs, and/or provide peer-based recovery support services.  Kimmie's Recovery Zone is named after Kimmy Kinkle, the late daughter of longtime FLCMAA Event Chair, Al Kinkle.

We hope that you will join us for our 23rd Anniversary celebration as a sponsor again this year! Our committee is planning an event that you will not want to miss.  The Charity Classic will be held at on Monday, November 16 at the Club at Gateway in Fort Myers.

The cost to play in the 2020 Charity Classic is an all time low of $500.  Don, Jimmy and Matt have committed to providing us with a safe yet fun day of golf and fellowship among our peer group.  Let's band together this year and support Barbara's Friends and Kimmie's Recovery Zone.  These charities need our help now more than ever.  Their needs remain at all time highs and the funding is tougher than ever this year.  If you do not have a 4-some sign up as an individual and we will group you with others.

Please return the commitment form at the address on that form. Please feel free to contact me with if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you and appreciate all you do to support vulnerable children and adults in Southwest Florida.

Sincerely,

Scott
